Dr. Anil Dalvi is a general and minimally invasive surgeon at Georgetown Hospital, part of Halton Healthcare. He completed an undergraduate degree in engineering from the University of Waterloo and a master’s degree in engineering from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. He completed his medical degree, and residency in general surgery at McMaster University.
Following residency, Dr. Dalvi completed the minimally invasive surgery fellowship at the University of Toronto. During this program, he continued to develop advanced laparoscopic skills in obesity surgery, treatment of upper gastrointestinal tract and colorectal oncology and benign disease, hernia repair, and surgical emergencies.
After his fellowship, he worked as a general surgeon in a number of diverse communities in Ontario. He received additional training in performing caesarean sections in the community setting, completing his training at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto. He worked as a surgical endoscopist in an outpatient clinic in Toronto and as an advanced trauma life support instructor in Hamilton.
Dr. Dalvi joined Georgetown Hospital in 2017. He maintains a broad surgical practice including breast and GI surgical oncology and treatment of benign gastrointestinal tract and breast diseases, treatment of anorectal disorders, hernia repair, skin and soft tissue disease and surgical emergencies and trauma. He is passionate about blending innovation and evidence-based minimally invasive approaches in general surgery with the major advantages of a community hospital setting, including smaller well-integrated teams working closely together to provide patients with efficient, high-quality care, and a supportive personal approach. He lives in beautiful Georgetown, Ontario with his wife, also a physician at Halton Healthcare and their two children.
Dr. Matt Mosseler is a general and minimally invasive surgeon at Georgetown Hospital, part of Halton Healthcare. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree at McGill University and then obtained his medical degree at Memorial University in Newfoundland, completing rotations across Canada and internationally. He completed general surgery residency training at the University of Ottawa where he became the Canadian laparoscopic suturing champion in 2019.
Dr. Mosseler then completed fellowship subspecialty training in minimally invasive foregut and bariatric surgery through Unity Health at the University of Toronto. During this fellowship, he was a research fellow at the International Centre for Surgical Safety and continues to be involved with the Surgical Safety Network, an international team of surgeons focused on analyzing and implementing quality improvement initiatives. He also completed a course through Harvard which examined the design and implementation of new technologies in healthcare. In this respect, he is excited to keep surgery in Georgetown at the forefront of these evidence-based advances to help deliver the best possible patient care.
Dr. Mosseler enjoys a broad scope of general surgical practice which includes benign and oncologic diseases of the breast, gastrointestinal tract, skin and soft tissue. In addition to surgical interventions, he performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for gastrointestinal pathologies such as gastroscopy and colonoscopy. He uses minimally invasive techniques for abdominal wall hernia and hiatal hernia repairs and is also passionate about the delivery of minimally invasive emergency surgical services to Georgetown and surrounding communities.
